The Bethel Lab uses a variety of computational and experimental techniques to explore how the energetics of proteins influences their functions. Proteins are responsible for nearly every process in biology, and we model proteins as context dependent, dynamic machines to better understand how they accomplish these processes. Additionally, we use de novo protein design to apply these principles to generate new proteins with functions not observed in nature.
